The information for my vellum pages came from looking back on my pediatrician notes.
All of my photos are printed studio pics that I have saved in a large folder. Now finally in an album. They are just my favorites…I can’t believe this adorable 😉 little baby girl is now 7-years-old.
The information on the reverse side of the photo came from my notes that I simply and quickly jotted down on our family calendars. Also, I wanted to include my favorite memories from these time frames.

The chipboard I used for this album/book measures at 11 1/4 inches long by 6 1/2 inches tall (cut down from a 12″ x 12″ piece of chipboard). I scored the chipboard with my Martha Stewart Scoring Board at 5 1/4 inches and again at 6 inches to make a 3/4 inch spine (so the front and back covers folded measures to be 5 1/4 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches tall each). Then, I used Mod Podge to cover all sides of the chipboard and glue down my pattern papers. After all that dried, I used my Crop-a-Dile Big Bite II from We R Memory Keepers to add the holes in the spine for my ribbon. I punched the holes next to each other at 1/4″ and 1/2″. The ribbons are 3 inches apart on the spine (1 1/2 inch both right and left from the center of the spine). My binding system is simply scoring and folding the chipboard. I did allow the glue to dry overnight with a stack of books on top of them. That helped the pattern paper really stay put on the chipboard. The 9 month old photo was 5″ x 7″ cut down to 4 3/4″ x 6″. The rest of the photos measure 4″ x 6″. I hope this helps.

Silly question about vellum:no matter what pen I use, it smudges… and printing is even worse! How did you manage to keep the vellum so perfectly crisp and clean? I love it! (and glad I am not the only one going back and making a project with baby pics… of the nine year old).

I am a little nutty about my scrapping (that’s why I can’t go to a crop and be around other people…my process is weird). Even worse, I am a perfectionist (my husband laughs and calls me “anal” – pardon that horrible word). Anyway, smudges have happened to me whether it was done during the printing process or I just accidentally did it with my fingers. I am extremely careful when it comes to printing and not just on vellum. I want it all to look pretty! Vellum is tricky to work with, but I personally would rather put it through my printer than use my own handwritting on it. So, I make sure that my printer ink and printer is ready to work at its best. My husband bought me a new printer for my birthday in February. I graduated from a Kodak ESP-3 All-in-One Printer (I had it for about 5 years and I loved it) to a Epson WF-7520 All-in-One Wide Format Printer (so far so good…I Adore it!). I adhere my vellum with blue painters tape or washi tape (always making sure that i give it a few swipes on my pants or leg to make sure it’s not too sticky and tears my vellum) to my printer paper. I print and after I peel off the vellum…I LEAVE IT ALONE (especially if I’ve printed in Bold Type)! I don’t touch the ink at all! I wait for it to completely dry! If I want to help the ink dry a bit quicker, then I carefully lay a kleenex tissue or a piece of paper towel, steady my hand, do one or two firm pats (with one finger not my whole hand) on the words, and carefully lift the tissue/paper towel off. That should do it. Once it’s completely dry, I can work with it.
If you’re one of those people who loves adding your own handwriting to your projects, then you can use Precision Pens and/or Becky Higgins Project Life Journaling Pens by American Crafts. Also, the Black Zig Writer Pen by Kuretake works well, too. You should be able to write a word or even a paragraph of journaling without smudging on vellum. Give it a try…write a word, give it a few seconds to make absolutely sure it’s dry, and smile.
Yeah, I have SO many studio pics and just baby pics of my girls. Eh, it only took me 7 and 9 years to get to them. Ha!

The nice thing about this album is that I kept it simple and pretty. So, making something like this wouldn’t take long. AND, the Special Delivery collections by Pebbles come in Boy and Girl! 😉
