Emoji Themed Craft Birthday Party

For Caitie’s 11th birthday party last month, we decided to have an emoji themed craft party at our house.  Caitie and her friends had a blast and the time went by SO fast.  I kept the décor of the party pretty simple because I wanted to focus on preparing the crafts for her and her friends.  Creative kiddos!

The party lasted four hours (it was too short…the time just flew by).  Too much fun to be had!  I started the Emoji Craft Party with the DIY mini Emoji Pillows.  It was the right decision.  It turned out to be the most time consuming project because instead of using a hot glue gun for everything I decided on machine stitching and ironing on the faces.

To make the mini Emoji Pillows as durable as possible (I did not want them to fall apart right after the party), I machine stitched the pillows ahead of time.  A week before the party, I purchased yellow fleece at my local Jo-Ann store.  For 15 party guests, I used 2 yards of fabric.  I outlined an 8″ plate (from the kitchen) with a sharpie onto the fleece, cut them all out, layered two circles together, and machine stitched them.  After machine stitching all the mini pillows, I used my washer and dryer to clean them up.  I purchased black, blue, red, pink, and white felt fabric that came in rectangle sheets for the girls to draw and cut-out the faces.  I used the Heat n Bond UltraHold Iron-On Adhesive by Therm O Web from Jo-Ann to get the faces on the mini pillows.  It was easy to use.  No sew, no steam required, machine washable, permanent, 1 yard package (17″ x 1 yd). The red package not the purple package in the store.  The girls stuffed their mini pillows with the Morning Glory Premium Polyester Fiberfil 20 oz package.  This one bag purchased at Walmart was more than enough.

I purchased DIY Party Sunrise Fringe Tape and DIY Party Circle Mini Piñatas from We R Memory Keepers.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

The girls had so much fun creating their own Emoji mini Piñatas.  It was something different for them and they loved it!  The best part was filling the mini Piñatas with candy from the candy bar.  Perfect party favors!

I had the girls use American Crafts smooth cardstock and Elmer’s glue for the faces.  They turned out awesome!

Emoji cupcakes displayed in the candy bar!  TOO CUTE!

These emoji cupcakes turned out amazing and were yummy!  I bought them from a local bakery.  The team at Miss Joan’s Cupcakes were fantastic!  We all had huge smiles on our faces when we opened the box and saw these impressive cupcake designs.  They were exactly what we wanted!  Actually, they turned out to be better than what we imagined.

The girls enjoyed a photo booth all decked out with an emoji background and props that I found and purchased at the Justice store.  I also purchased the table covers, cups, plates, napkins, and party favor bags from the Justice store.  I love their party section.  Fun stuff, perfect finds for our party, and all of it was on sale!

I added this AWESOME Heidi Swapp Lightbox for décor that I purchased from Jo-Ann.  Perfect Emoji Icon Lightbox Inserts!

These emoji balloons were purchased online at the Emoji Balloon Company.  They were at each table for décor.

Thanks for stopping by to see how I put together Caitie’s Emoji Themed Craft Birthday Party!  It turned out to be one of my favorite parties!

Happy First Anniversary Card

Last year in August, we went to THE best wedding ever! (Yes, even better than my own wedding.)  Chris’ brother got married.  We traveled just a few hours away from our house to Galesburg, IL.  It was beautiful, SO much fun, and filled with wonderful hand-made touches everywhere you looked.  Chris and the girls were in the wedding.  They LOVED being flower girls in Uncle Adam and Aunt Maria’s wedding!  We all adore them and I wanted to share just a few of my favorite photos from the wedding. Of course, when I say a few…I mean under 40 photos today.  Ha!  So, I thought I would be best to share them in a slideshow.

I got excited when I saw some Amy Tangerine and Dear Lizzy papers used at the tables.  I loved, loved, loved the idea of using a book with a heart cut-out inside for the wedding rings.  LOVED!  I just loved their book-themed wedding along with items included that reflected them and what they’ve done.  The details were just wonderful and fun to look at…so much planning, preparation, and hard work…it was just WOW!

A Chinese lantern, fireworks, and more dancing finished off the amazing day!

It was the BEST WEEKEND celebration!

SO, now for my hand-made card for Adam and Maria using the Jen Hadfield Home+Made collection by Pebbles!

Happy First Anniversary Card

I heat embossed these stamped images from Amy Tangerine and Dear Lizzy right onto the Chalkboard Sticker.  I drew the border around the sticker by hand using the Zig Squeeze and Roll Glue Pen.  Then, I heat embossed it.  I love the way it turned out.

More stamping on the matching envelope for the card.

12 years ago today…

I married the greatest guy!

He’s my Best Friend, my Love, and he’s a wonderful Daddy to our little girls.

Happy Anniversary, Chris!

Yes, it’s our Anniversary today (can’t believe it’s been 12 years) AND Mother’s Day!

I am SO thankful for these past 12 years (that really seemed to just fly by)

and reminded especially today that you have given me

the two greatest gifts I could ever have in the whole wide world…

(especially mine and my sweet Mother-in-Law)

One of These “Kids” is Not Like the Other Layout

Here’s a layout I made using the Front Porch collection by Pebbles.

Remember the Sesame Street song “One of these things is not like the other”? Well, I thought that worked well with the photo on this layout. My girls and their cousin were flower girls at their Uncle Adam and Aunt Maria’s wedding during the summer. In case you haven’t guessed it, their wedding was on a farm. And, these kids loved this kid. Yep, goats. Seriously, how often do you see flower girls with a bunch of goats?! It’s sweet and silly at the same time.

I just LOVE these Cherish Fabric Thickers. After I sprayed some Inky Black color mist on them, they gave me this cool looking texture.

One Little Word 2013

Happy New Year! Hope you all have had a great start to your 2013! The holidays and school winter break was nice and relaxing for us, but we did spend most of it recovering. We all got sick one by one. Anyway, I wanted to pop-in and share with you something that I haven’t done before…my One Little Word for this new year. After years of being a stay-at-home mama to two wonderful girls (still am a proud SAH mama), I wanted something for myself. Something that was just for me.

In 2011, my word was COURAGE. It’s amazing how one little word can change your life. With the help of my little sister, my MIL, and this one little word, I put myself out there. So hard to do. Sharing yourself publicly in any way, shape, or form is incredibly hard to do. Especially, for me. With COURAGE, I started sharing my projects on various scrapbooking galleries and then started this blog. I put myself out there and started applying for Design Teams. Crazy. Me. Yeah. But, why not? Rejection is tough. Sure. I don’t like hearing the word “No.” I also dislike the words “I can’t” and “Impossible.” Until, I was given an opportunity…a publication. And then, becoming a Cycling Team Member for Little Yellow Bicycle. It was unbelievable and incredible all at the same time. Last year, my word was PURSUE. My dream of being on a Design Team came true. Not only did I make the Pretty Little Studio DT, but I also made the Pebbles Inc DT and made a return visit to Little Yellow Bicycle! Three Design Teams in one year. Amazing. I can’t forget to mention…more publishings! So…

My word for 2013 is WILL.

I WILL be less worrisome. Everything happens for a reason.

I WILL start letting go of my trust issues (baby steps with this one) and trust God’s plan for me in this new year.

I WILL take better care of my health. Scheduling doctors appointments for my routine exams. No procrastinating or forgetting. No excuses.

I WILL eat more fruits and vegetables. Who am I kidding? I love food. I WILL not go on a diet. Instead, I WILL be more mindful of portion size. I know…I can’t stop laughing with this one either. Moving on…

I WILL get more exercise. Whether it’s on the treadmill, playing with the girls, or walking outside…I WILL move more.

I WILL return to Healthcare. I miss it. A lot. A job in the scrapbooking world!? A dream that I feel already came true when I made the Design Teams. I WILL enjoy scrapbooking as my hobby and stay realistic. I WILL keep applying to more and more Design Teams and just keep having fun with it all!

I WILL take a photography class. This one is long overdue. HA!

I have been very blessed. I’m still counting my blessings! I’m so very grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way. Grateful…more so than anyone will ever really know. Thankful to You for stopping by my blog. Thanks for reading! I’m excited to see what 2013 will bring! It WILL be another amazing year. I just know it. Who needs New Year’s Resolutions? Not me, because I can never keep those. Instead, I choose One Little Word and make goals for myself. So, what word will you choose for yourself in 2013? Where will your One Little Word take you? Give it a try if you haven’t done this before. You will be amazed how powerful One Little Word can be.

Have a great day!

Have a Sweet Christmas Layout

It’s Mix & Match Monday at the Pebbles Blog today. I made this layout of Caitie and Payton using a photo of them from last Christmas Day. I mixed the Family Ties and the Seen & Noted Collections for some holiday fun. The girls are dressed in Silver and Gold. A perfect match to their personalities. Caitie with her Heart of Gold and Payton with her Sparkling Personality.
I would like to wish You all the Blessings of Christmas.
May Peace, Joy, and Love fill Your Hearts in the New Year.

I had fun participating in Dear Lizzy’s 12 on 12 Photo Challenge. It definitely was a challenge, but I kept my Canon PowerShot camera in my pocket to make sure I wouldn’t forget. Ha! I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday. A day like 12.12.12 only comes once in a lifetime…so happy I did this!

Walking the girls to school, a typical morning ritual.

As soon as I walked back home, I jumped into the Jeep and headed out on some errands.

HO HO HO, who wouldn’t go…

HO HO HO, who wouldn’t gooOOOOOO…UP on the Housetop…Click, Click, Click…

Down through the chimney with good St. Nick.

Are those the words to the song? That’s okay…no one can hear me.

Errands yesterday included the bank, the post office, and Target. Blah, no fun errands. Just taking care of business. I’ll go to Archivers, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn, and Michaels another day…tee-hee!

Checking in with work again…nothing for today. I’ve been working part-time (from home) for a publishing company. I’m so thankful for this job while I figure out what I want to do next. Hate to say that I’m still at a crossroads at the moment. : (

After lunch, I jumped on the treadmill for a workout…

…and the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers excitement continues on the DVD player. I cannot wait for Saturday! Chris’ mom (Grammy) is coming over to play with the girls while we go to the movies and see The Hobbit! YAY! (so excited)

Blogging and uploading my project for Pebbles. L.O.V.E.

I walked over to the school and got the girls. This is typical…running with friends…on our way home. Thank goodness I walk home with my mommy friends.

Our friends go right and we turn left to head home and my sweeties are walking with me. Yay!

Homework with Daddy…working on spelling and grammar. Amazed that this girlie has not missed one word yet. Last year, she only missed one word the entire time in first grade. How does she do that!?

I helped the girls with their showers and now they’re squeaky clean.

Our little foodie eating a cutie. Wow, I’m realizing that I either need to use a tripod at all times or take a photography class. LOL! Yeah, the class.

Caitie relaxing her yummy brain with her DS. She’s playing Disney’s Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension.

The girls opened up Day 12 of their Christmas Book Advent. It’s a new book!

Daddy also read a chapter book. Chapter 5 – The Return of Rhonda in Payton’s “Nancy Clancy Super Sleuth” book by Jane O’Connor. This is so typical…Payton doing other things while Caitie is sitting next to Daddy listening to the story. Love You. Night, Night girls.

Even if you didn’t take photos throughout your 12.12.12 day, I hope it was still a memorable and happy one!
