Posted: May 11, 2012 Filed under: Scrapbooking | Tags: Crate Paper 5 Comments »I made this layout using the May Color Challenge over at the Crate Paper Blog. The color combination is Marshmallow White, Marigold Orange and Aqua Blue. Not only did I use this great beachy color combo to create my page, but I also took inspiration from this song by One Direction and combined it with an email ad I received from Anthropologie. (I just know my sisters…and Emmy…are gonna tease me about this song. Come on, just admit they remind you of NKOTB and Backstreet Boys, too.) LOL!
One Direction – What Makes You Beautiful (Official Music Video)
by OneDirectionVEVO and directed by John Urbano
Oh, sweet Payton. My favorite little 5-year-old. She is sweet, charming, smart, loving, stubborn, caring, considerate, hilarious, a foodie, the list can go on and on…she is just beautiful inside and out. But on top of all these great things about her, she has some serious “alpha” issues. Oh, yes. This little sweetheart has told us that she is upset that Caitie was born first. When I first heard her say this, I laughed because I never thought that this kid could ever be jealous. Plus, how often do you hear someone admit to that? I feel bad. As her Mama, I never want her to feel like this or feel that I love Caitie more than her. Oh sure, Caitie was born first, gets to go to school first, and has lots of school friends (BTW, Caitie’s friends love Payton, too). Did I mention that Payton will run up ahead of us just be first (the leader) and she even gets upset if I go kiss Caitie goodnight first? Yeah. Okay, so what do I do to make her feel better? Besides talking to her about all the things that make her special and unique…that the beauty inside her is what matters most, I created this layout for her as a constant reminder that she is totally beautiful. We love her and there is nobody else like her. She’s a keeper!
Here is the confetti I added to the page. I used the leftover hearts and moon-like shapes from the punches I used on this page. I don’t like to waste any bit of scraps from patterned paper. I love using all I can and these looked adorable.
I added Aquamarine paint under some of the hearts I punched out.
I added layers of pretty fabric, tissue paper, and pattern paper under my photos. These pics were taken on the day of Payton’s 5th Birthday Party. It was a fun little photo shoot. I can’t believe she stood still for me! HA! How adorable are the washi tapes I added!? Yes, Payton’s adorable, too.
I added the scallop heart punch to the “Sweet” tag.
Pretty buttons and I added the wood veneer girl shape to the page using the Glossy Accents. Lots more pretty layering using a doily, fabric, and pattern paper.
Love that scallop frame punch! I gotta use it more!
I added more Aquamarine paint to the wedding cake bag and let it dry. Once it dried, I turned it upside down and printed off some journaling on it. Why not have the journaling out at the bottom this time? Then, I added the Pretty Party Alpha Stickers for my title and sewed the bag right onto my page.
Let me show you the journaling card…
I just had to add a pretty little flower to it along with a ribbon from the Farmhouse Trims.
Pretty Computer Font Time! I used the font Another Typewriter for all the journaling on this page.
Pretty button, love this no. 5 chipboard, and more painted hearts.
I love this little chipboard butterfly!

Thanks A Bunch Card
Posted: May 3, 2012 Filed under: Scrapbooking | Tags: Pretty Little Studio 3 Comments »Here is a tutorial project I made for Pretty Little Studio. I made this pretty thank you card using items from the Hopscotch Collection by Pretty Little Studio.
Here’s how I made these pretty flowers. They are so quick and easy to make.
Gather all the supplies you’ll need to make these flowers.
Attach the flowers to your card and add some glitter glue around the edges of the center circles for that final touch. I love how pretty and sparkly they look!

A {HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY DAY} Indeed
Posted: May 2, 2012 Filed under: Scrapbooking | Tags: American Crafts, CARDS Magazine 1 Comment »I got happy mail this evening. UPS dropped off a package for me from NORTHRIDGE PUBLISHING…
My “HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY DAY” Birthday Card was published in the March 2012 Issue of CARDS Magazine…page 138! I would like to thank Paige Evans, CARDS, and Everyone at NORTHRIDGE PUBLISHING AGAIN for this wonderful and amazing honor! Thank you for the magazines, the scrapbooking goodies, and the safe return of my card. This is my first time published in CARDS Magazine! I still cannot believe it.
BACKSTORY…
Last year, I told my husband that I wanted to try and make a card. And, I wanted to make a birthday card for my older sister, Violet (her birthday was coming up). I never made my own card before. I just bought the Hello Sunshine Collection by American Crafts from Archiver’s. The colors and design was perfect for my sister. I was SO excited…I had a birthday card idea. So, I made the card and then I HAD A VERY SELFISH MOMENT…
I fell in love with this adorable little card that I just made. I put it on top of my desk. I just left it there so I could always look at it. My husband saw it on top of my desk and said, ”You’re keeping it. I thought you made it for Violet.” But, I love it.
I saw the submission call for birthday cards at NORTHRIDGE PUBLISHING and submitted my card. The next thing I know, I get an email from Paige Evans (NO WAY!) telling me that they would like to publish it. The rest is history.
Don’t worry, I ran out to Hallmark, bought my sister a card, and sent it to her. HAHAHA! I know. I’m a terrible sister. Happy Birthday, Violet! LOL! I know you love me!
WOW! Did I just admit this story to all of you!? Yes, I did. Would I do it all over again? Keep and hoard something that I made for someone else…
Oh, yeah! I would totally do this again. HAHAHA! Goodnight, Everybody!
Monday Monday
Posted: April 30, 2012 Filed under: Family, Scrapbooking | Tags: Pretty Little Studio 1 Comment » Good Monday Morning, Everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. I was sick over the weekend with a really bad sore throat, runny nose, and felt like my head was gonna explode. So happy that Chris took the girls to the Field Museum…they had lots of fun and Mommy got some nice quiet time at home. Still recovering today (not feelin’ 100% yet), I’m making a fresh batch of hot tea (decaf). Yum and it definitely helps.I’m sharing my scrap space today with my little cutie pie. She’s playing some Team Umizoomi games on Nick Junior while I’m getting some projects done for Pretty Little Studio. We got tired of building stuff with the giant blocks and playing the new edition of CandyLand. I need a bigger desk and another computer.
Here’s a little sneaky peek at the project I’m working on with the new Monsieur Collection from Pretty Little Studio. I am loving it!
Here’s another sneaky peek for you. I’m so excited for the new Sand Castle Collection from Pretty Little Studio! It will be available for Pre-Order May 18.
Well, I have to go. Caitie is home from school…the checks for head lice continue. Yeah, you heard right. Unfortunately, I found out last week that we had a head lice outbreak at school and I have been checking Caitie’s head like crazy. She’s still clear…thank goodness. I can’t believe they’re letting kids at school who have head lice. What happened to the good ole’ days? You stay home from school until you are clear of it and you line up at school to get checked. Ahhhh. Well, I’m off to get dinner ready. Hope you all have a relaxing day.
Hoppy Easter Card
Posted: April 29, 2012 Filed under: Scrapbooking | Tags: Pretty Little Studio 1 Comment »I wanted to share this card I made using items from the Hopscotch Collection by Pretty Little Studio. I love the Hopscotch Vintage Diecuts and Tags. They add just the perfect touch to your cards. I cut out the scallops from the Bunny Hop Pattern Paper and layered it with some grass. I stamped my “Hoppy Easter” sentiment right onto the journaling card. For the letter “O”, I cut out a little egg shape out of a design from the Hopscotch Pattern Paper and added a pop dot for that 3D effect. I also added some pop dots to my vintage bunny diecut for another fun 3D effect. I used my sewing machine to add the hop lines for my bunny and a nice border around the entire card.
Supplies I used to make my “Hoppy Easter” Card:
Others: white cardstock, green cardstock by DCWV, Fringe Scissors by Martha Stewart Crafts, Mini and Memory Book Glue Dots, Circle Foam Tabs by American Crafts, Casual Multi Upper/Lower Numbers Clear Stamps Set (Item TT230) by My Sentiments Exactly!, black ink stamp pad, scissors, white thread, and sewing machine.
